Troon has been selected to manage The Saticoy Club, formerly Saticoy Country Club, in Somis, Calif., a small town located just north of Los Angeles in Ventura County. Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon, will oversee the course and club operations at The Saticoy Club.

Founded in 1921, The Saticoy Club was the first private club in Ventura County. Nestled in the hills of Somis, the 18-hole course was designed by architect William F. Bell and is regarded as one of top golf courses in California by Links magazine. Over its storied history, the club has hosted USGA Championship Qualifiers as well as Southern California Golf Association Amateur Championships. Over the years, the course has been refined by notable golf course architects Robert Muir Graves, Tom Doak and John Harbottle, who is responsible for creating the classic capes and bay-style bunkers that exist today.

The Saticoy Club was recently purchased by Saticoy Partners. The new ownership group has committed to a number of course enhancements, including new bunkers, tee complexes and improved sight lines. In addition to on-course changes, plans also call for improvements to be made to dining spaces, locker rooms, the pool area and fitness facilities.

“The Saticoy Club is an exceptional private club with a storied history, an outstanding golf course and wonderful team of employees,” said Bill O’Brien, vice president, Troon Privé. “We’re delighted to be working with The Saticoy Club and look forward to elevating the Club back to prominence.”

In addition to exceptional golf, The Saticoy Club offers members a variety of amenities including fitness, swimming, social functions, concerts and exceptional dining using locally-sourced produce. The Club’s well-appointed clubhouse features multiple dining options, including an upscale casual dining room, a sun room, a bar and lounge, an outdoor terrace and a poolside patio.

“The Saticoy Club is without question a great golf course,” said Bill Apfelbaum, managing partner, Saticoy Partners. “Our grand vision will be to do whatever it takes to return this magnificent property into the ranks of the nation’s elite golf clubs and to deliver a service and product standard to its members befitting the honor.”
