Golf course architecture firm Todd Eckenrode – Origins Golf Design is midway through a major renovation of Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, Calif. The back nine just reopened this month, and work has begun on the front nine.

“We are thrilled to introduce a fresh new look and design to the back nine at Quail Lodge Golf Club, with fully renovated tees, bunkers, fairway features, chipping areas and lakes,” Eckenrode says.

A new bunker collection is being unveiled, featuring classic forms and a natural styling, with many in new locations.

Select lakes were reconstructed completely. Some were removed entirely and are being replaced with drought-tolerant landscaping, which reduces water demand. Other lakes were converted into deep swales.

“We are very proud of the results in the first half of an exciting renovation at Quail Lodge Golf Club. The team all came together to exceed our expectations in the work and craftsmanship. I am excited to present a much more interesting, strategic and varied golf experience for the members, and can’t wait to complete the other side,” Eckenrode says.

Also aiding in the porject is KemperSports, who is managing the course project; Quail Lodge & Golf Club’s general manager Sarah Cruse; golf course contractor Earth Sculptures; superintendent Denis Kerr and his staff; and independent shapers Jonathon Reisetter and Blake Conant.
