The AndersonsThe Andersons, a plant nutrient company based in Maumee, Ohio, purchased Kay Flo Industries, a manufacturer of premium liquid starter fertilizers and plant nutrients. Based in North Sioux City, S.D., Kay Flo’s Nutra-Flo division serves hundreds of growers, ranchers and agriculture businesses throughout the Western Corn Belt.

The company says it expects the acquisition to grow its national sales and distribution opportunities and to expand its wholesale and specialty fertilizer business.

“We are pleased to have The Andersons carry on our legacy and the relationships we’ve built with our customers and employees,” says vice president and general operations manager, Raun Lohry, formerly CFO of Kay Flow. “We are confident in the opportunities this acquisition will provide to both our employees and our customers.”

The purchase includes a research and development laboratory and three plant nutrient manufacturing and distribution assets with more than 100,000 tons of tank storage, the company says. The animal nutrient portions of Kay Flo are not a part of the acquisition.
