Spectrum Technologies launches SC 950 Soil Compaction Meter for turfgrass 

Spectrum Technologies, a provider of plant measurement technology, debuted its third-generation FieldScout SC 950 Soil Compaction Meter, an advanced Bluetooth-enabled penetrometer designed to identify soil compaction throughout the turf root zone. 

Soil compaction is a common challenge resulting from repeated equipment traffic, particularly under wet soil conditions. Excessive compaction can limit root development, nutrient uptake and negatively impact playability and turf quality. 

Using an ultrasonic sensor, the SC 950 determines measurement depth from 0 to 18 inches (1-inch increments), with compaction index values displayed in pounds per square inch. 

Integrated Bluetooth connectivity allows the SC 950 to connect with the FieldScout mobile app and forward geo-referenced data for data visualization and assessment.
