The results of Golfdom’s Turf Tweet of the year poll are in. Congratulations to the winner, Ross Niewola, superintendent at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Throughout 2021, Golfdom — in partnership with Syngenta — recognized tweets in each month’s issue. Niewola’s tweet was featured in the September issue of Golfdom and in a tight race, took home the win after earning 25 percent of the vote and thus claiming the title of Turf Tweet of the year.

In addition to the 200 likes the tweet received on Twitter, Niewola will receive gifts including a Fujifilm smartphone printer, some exclusive Golfdom gear and the honor of being Golfdom’s first tweet of the year.

A Williamsburg, Va. native, Niewola sent out the tweet of the year during his first week on the job at Sherwood.

“(It was) just a tweet to let people know I moved,” he said. “When you guys posted my tweet as the tweet of the month, I heard from a bunch of old friends who told me they saw it and thought it was great and were happy to see I had a new job.”

Niewola will celebrate his win in sunny and warm Southern California

“It’s going great at Sherwood. It’s January and it’s 75 degrees outside,” he said.
