Seth Jones: Hey everybody. It’s Seth Jones, editor-in-chief of Golfdom Magazine. I’m very excited to be doing another 19th Hole interview today. I’m being joined by Renee Geyer. She is the superintendent out at Canterwood Golf and Country Club in Gig Harbor, Wash. Hey Renee, how’s it going?

Renee Geyer: Very well, very well. Thank you for having me today. It’s nice to be able to see you.

SJ: Yeah, good to see you, too. Okay, how’s about this? Renee, have you ever been given advice, Or do you have advice you like to give? I just want to throw out advice. What comes to mind?

RG: Yeah, oh, I’ve been given a lot of advice over the years. Thank God, because otherwise I wouldn’t be sitting here talking to you. I think that one of the things that I try to tell people is you need to work for tomorrow starting today, or work today for tomorrow, however you want to phrase it, because this, in this business, it’s so fast paced. I mean, it’s just so fast paced. And we’re all, I think every superintendent, at least the ones that I’ve come across, the ones that are halfway successful, you gotta be a little bit type A, just a touch, just to be able to have that edge. And most of us are already thinking about what’s going to happen two days from now, right now. You can think about it, but are you actually doing anything about it? Are you planning for it? So I would offer the advice of you know, work today for what you want tomorrow, and that goes for anything. I mean, that’s not just being on the golf course and running 18 holes or 54 holes or whatever you have. It’s I think what qualifies for certain things in life, too. But I will say, though I tell my staff this all the time. We have conversations in our morning meetings. Be kind. Just Be kind. I think that’s one of the best pieces of advice that I could ever give anybody, because it’s really, really important be kind. And words matter. What comes out of your mouth matters. So yeah.

SJ: Good advice. One more time, everybody. This is Renee Geyer. She is the superintendent out at Canterwood Golf and Country Club in Gig Harbor, Wash. I’m Seth Jones. Thanks for watching us here on Golfdom TV.
