Quickly approaching its 100th year, the 6,560-yard course at Michigan’s Crystal Downs Country Club still ranks in the U.S. top 20. But after many implementing stopgap measures to keep an old irrigation system functioning, the Crystal Downs team knew that a replacement system was needed. To make sure that it would work well for many years to come, they chose Rain Bird.
With their new IC System, Golf Course Superintendent Don Roth and Director of Building and Grounds Mike Morris now have an irrigation system that supports course playability today and scalability tomorrow. Morris calls the IC System “a quality product” that’s “going to perform without a lot of effort on our part.” Roth loves the programming capabilities, calling the system “intuitive” and “super simple.”
