The big oak on No. 6: Expect this tree to garner a lot of attention on No. 6. The original tree was lost in 2014, and this winter a new one was put in its place. “It was a pretty epic project,” Andrew says. Plotts says the project turned out even better than he hoped. “Right now, the players seem to like it… but it’s a practice round,” he told Golfdom. “We’ll see how they like it once the tournament begins.”

Here’s some need-to-now info: Andrew thanked the maintenance team’s sponsors (in today’s case, Quali-Pro and Floratine) then gave the crew a weather update and informed them that the police were ready to help them get to where they needed to get on the golf course — and encouraged them to briskly get to their vehicles so they could roll out.

Kaminski class at Sawgrass: John Kaminski, Ph.D., director, Golf Course Turf Management Program, Penn State, was on-hand at the Players Championship to check in on the many students he has interning at Sawgrass… and also to get in this photo with his old pal Seth on No. 17 tee.
