Performance Nutrition and Turf Max partner to release Prudent Green

Performance Nutrition, a division of LidoChem Inc., and Turf Max LLC,  has launched its new combination fertilizer and sunscreen for turf, Prudent Green.

Prudent Green is a formulation of Performance Nutrition’s Prudent 44 phosphite fertilizer with Turf Max’s Turf Screen enhanced solar protection. The formulation helps strengthen the turfgrass plant during times of drought or heat stress, while blocking harmful UVB rays of the sun that are known to inhibit photosynthesis, according to the companies.

Prudent 44 is a highly concentrated phosphite fertilizer that Performance Nutrition says stimulates key pathways in the plant to defend against environmental stress and increases the integrity of plant cell walls. Turf Screen acts as a sunscreen for turfgrass, blocking harmful UVB rays and other wavelengths. Safe for the environment and independently verified to improve turf quality, Turf Screen inhibits wilt and saves water by achieving an up to 30 percent water reduction, according to Turf Max.

Scott May, president of Turf Max, invested 12 years as a golf course superintendent and tested the products on the golf course.

“I used both products successfully in combination as a golf course superintendent in the Philadelphia region,” says May. “Prudent 44 is safe, it’s effective, it’s economical, it is widely used and the Performance Nutrition guys are second to none in terms of standing behind their products. It just made a lot of sense for me to partner with them. From my perspective, it was a natural fit,”

Prudent Green debuts at both the Performance Nutrition Booth #1713 and the Turf Max Booth #3922 beginning Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Golf Industry Show in San Diego. It is available through Performance Nutrition, Turf Max and turf product distributors throughout the United States.
