Arkon was approved for use in most U.S. states (excluding California and Alaska) in 2023. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) previously approved federal registration for the herbicide.

Now available nationwide, Arkon is labeled for use on established cool- and warm-season turfgrass species across a wide variety of use sites, including golf course greens, fairways and roughs.

Utilizing the active ingredient Pyrimisulfan, Arkon provides post-emergent control of sedges (yellow, purple and annual), kyllinga (green false green, cockscomb and annual), dollar weed, chickweed, henbit and other labeled broadleaf weeds. According to the company, research has shown that the liquid herbicide reduces the number and viability of nutsedge tubers.

Arkon will be featured alongside other PBI-Gordon products, such as:

  • Segway Fungicide SC provides consistent and rapid control of Pythium root dysfunction, Pythium blight, Pythium damping-off and Pythium root rot.
  • SpeedZone EW broadleaf herbicide for turf controls more than 90 tough broadleaf weeds, including dollarweed, ground ivy and spurge.
  • Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide for grassy and broadleaf weeds combines four active ingredients into a single formulation that kills crabgrass and other tough grassy and broadleaf weeds such as foxtail, chickweed, clover and dandelion.
