Oglebay Golf Course Superintendent Nick Janovich was recognized as a winner of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) Grassroots Ambassador Leadership Award.

“We are extremely proud to have Nick on our staff,” said Danny Ackerman, Oglebay’s general manager of golf operations. “This recognition from the GSCAA demonstrates Nick’s ongoing dedication to Oglebay and the game of golf.”

The Grassroots Ambassador Leadership (GAL) Award, presented quarterly in partnership with The Toro Co., recognizes individuals who have demonstrated advancement of the GCSAA Priority Issues Agenda through congressional outreach and relationship development with a member of Congress. Janovich has made 27 trips to Capitol Hill as an ambassador of the GCSAA and golf industry.

“We are at the point where they know me, why I’m there, and they are prepared with information,” Janovich said. “I’ve also been affectionately referred to as the ‘golf guy.’”

Through Toro, GAL winners will receive a trip to the 2019 National Golf Day in Washington, D.C., where golf industry leaders meet with members of Congress to discuss the game’s economic, social and environmental contributions to society.
