NGCOA’s deputy CEO Mike Tinkey resigns, Jay Karen starts as CEO Oct. 1
Mike Tinkey has resigned as the deputy chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) where he served for 24 years, according to Golf Business News. Tinkey also previously served on the NGCOA’s board of directors.
“The timing is excellent for me to advance my long-time business interests in golf, sports and hospitality in other venues where I can make a difference while taking time to engage in family land and business interests,” Tinkey said to Golf Business News.
Jay Karen begins his new position as CEO of the NGCOA on Oct. 1, replacing Mike Hughes, who announced in January he was stepping down. Karen is returning to the NGCOA where he was director of Partner Relations and Membership from 1997 to 2007.
“Jay Karen brings fresh, new ideas, motivation and a profound love of golf to the NGCOA,” said Matthew Galvin, president of the NGCOA, in Golf Inc. maagzine. “While we look forward to a smooth transition and exciting changes, we are grateful to Mike Hughes for his legendary and expert leadership as he’s leaving the organization at a high point.”
