Lake Presidential Golf Club ranked No. 2 on Golfweek magazine’s 2016 “Best Courses You Can Play, State-by-State” list for Maryland.

Under Billy Casper Golf management since late 2014, this club, located 25 miles east of Washington, DC, topped more than 175 eligible courses.

The state-by-state rankings – tallied by hundreds of Golfweek raters across America – take into account overall strength of routing, feature shaping, natural settings, greens, variety and remarkable nature of holes, conditioning and maintenance, landscape management and other criteria.

“A high amount of repeat golfers shows we are operating on all cylinders,” says Tim Woodruff, general manager of Lake Presidential Golf Club. “Steadfast support from Ryko Development and Billy Casper Golf, combined with personable service and unforgettable experiences, contribute to the club being a mainstay on several ‘best-of’ lists.”

The Golfweek honor follows Lake Presidential being named a “Top 10 New Course in the United States” by GOLF Magazine upon opening in 2008 and “the best kept secret in DC golf” by Golf Channel.

Lake Presidential Golf Club’s 18-hole, par-72, 7,230-yard layout is nestled in heavily wooded terrain.

The 570-yard, par-5 No. 8 that requires an accurate tee shot through trees to set up an approach to a narrow green guarded by bunkers and the course’s namesake lake. The 225-yard, par-3 ninth and risk-reward 515-yard, par-5 18th also play around the 30-acre Lake Presidential for memorable finishes to rounds.

Complementing the golf course is “The Institute,” Lake Presidential’s indoor-outdoor training facility. PGA professionals use high-speed cameras and motion-capture technology to produce three-dimensional images of golfers’ swings.
