Envu releases Castlon fungicide for cool-season turf

Castlon fungicide is a new fluoxastrobin from Envu that can help golf course superintendents mitigate 26 turf and 22 landscape/ornamental diseases. According to the company, Castlon fungicide delivers superior performance on several of the most problematic diseases of turf including fairy ring, summer patch, brown patch, leaf spot and Pythium. The new fungicide debuts alongside four new postemergence cool-season turfgrass herbicides, available June 2024.

“Castlon fungicide is a strobilurin chemistry that is highly systemic in plants with a very fast rain uptake, making it a quick performer against foliar and root diseases,” said Jesse Benelli, Ph.D., Green Solutions Team specialist at Envu. “There aren’t many stand-alone products that can control brown patch and Pythium blight at the same time. Typically, applications require tank mixtures, but Castlon fungicide does both.”

Castlon’s fungicide fluoxastrobin is a natural partner to the tebuconazole in Mirage Stressgard fungicide — meaning the two products can be tank-mixed for improved plant health benefits.

Because Mirage Stressgard fungicide and Castlon fungicide pair well together, Envu is offering a $50 rebate on each bottle of Mirage Stressgard fungicide through 2024 when golf course superintendents purchase one unit each of Castlon fungicide and Mirage Stressgard fungicide.

“We are incredibly pleased to make this solution available for our customers alongside our recently introduced Resilia root health solution and trusted Stressgard brand fungicides. When put into rotational application programs, they can help ensure plant health and disease protection all season long,” Benelli said.

In addition to Castlon fungicide, Envu is releasing four new herbicides. The new products include:

• Acclaim Accelerate: Offers enhanced control of 3- to 5-tiller crabgrass and the most challenging midsummer weeds, including torpedograss on warm-season turfgrasses.
• Terradex Power Premix: Premixed formulation offers broad spectrum broadleaf weed control — including difficult-to-control weeds like thistle on primary and no-mow roughs.
• Terradex Crabgrass & Broadleaf: A combination of three active ingredients to provide postemergence control of both grassy and broadleaf weeds. Applied for late-season cleanup.
• Terradex Quick Strike: Controls broadleaf weeds fast with results in 24 to 48 hours, plus it’s rainfast in six hours.
