Congrats to Dr. John Street, who was presented with the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation’s Lifetime Membership Award in recognition of his 35 years of service as a teacher, researcher and mentor.

Dr. Street has been a professor at the Ohio State University since 1980. He has conducted some vital research in the areas of annual bluegrass control and foliar fertilization. For more on Dr. Street’s background, click here.


In other news, Dr. James McAfee’s funeral arrangements have been made. There will be a service tomorrow (2/4) at 2 p.m. at the Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson, Texas. Then, on Thursday (2/5) there will be a service in College Station at the Memorial Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. Burial immediately following at College Station Cemetery.

Dr. McAfee requested everyone to dress comfortably — jeans are encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the Dr. James McAfee Scholarship Fund. The money will go towards a student pursuing a career in sports turf management. To make a donation, click here.
