dlf-pickseed-usa-logoDLF Pickseed USA is currently in the process of rebuilding and expanding.

The warehouse at the Halsey, Ore., location that burnt down in August last year, was rebuilt and was in use by the end of March.

Along with the rebuild in Halsey, Ore., DLF Pickseed USA is also building a brand-new 35,200 square-foot warehouse facility at the site in Tangent, Ore. This new warehouse will hold an estimated 11 million pounds of seed. It will allow the company to utilize more of its own property as opposed to outsourcing storage. This increased storage capacity on site, will provide the ability to better serve customers.

By expanding and improving warehouse logistics for mixing and packaging DLF Pickseed USA is investing in the future to accommodate a more robust push into the U.S. retail market. With the new MasterGreen line of consumer based products and the recent acquisition of the retail line, X-Seed, this new warehouse space will support growth in retail and wholesale markets.

“We will consolidate our storage in order to improve throughput by having our seed close by, reducing transferring seed from outside locations, while simultaneously improving trucking productivity,” said Steyn van Niekerk, vp of operations. “It also allows us to improve the workflow of our seed processing, improving response time”, he adds. He expects the new warehouse to be available for use later this spring.

These new and upgraded facilities will serve to streamline shipping, receiving, packaging, mixing and storage.
