Deep South Turf Expo reveals education program speakers, topics

deep_sout_turf_expo_logo_300The Deep South Turf Expo‘s education program topics will cover professional development, professional pesticide usage and safety, and soil and water management for the golf, sports and landscape markets. The inaugural event is scheduled for Oct. 13–15 in Biloxi, Miss.

Academics and researchers presenting include Beth Guertal, Ph.D., Dave Han, Ph.D., Lawrence Graham, Ph.D., and Scott McElroy, Ph.D., of Auburn University; Stephen Enloe, Ph.D., and Bryan Unruh, Ph.D., from the University of Florida; Ron Strahan, Ph.D., of Louisiana State University; Christian Baldwin, Ph.D., Jay McCurdy, Ph.D., Barry Stewart, Ph.D., and Maria Tomaso-Peterson, Ph.D., of Mississippi State University; and Mike Goatley, Ph.D., of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Professional development speakers include Bill Brown, CGCS, founder and CEO of Turf Republic; Ken Magnum, CGCS, who is retired from Atlanta Athletic Club; and Ray Sayre, director of sports turf management for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

“The Deep South Turf Expo is a great opportunity for the region’s professional turfgrass managers to broaden their knowledge base, right in their own backyard,” McCurdy says. “The educational topics featured are relevant to southern turfgrass management, and the speaker list is phenomenal. The expo will be unprecedented, with vendors and sponsors from around the nation.”

The Deep South Turf Expo is a collaboration of the Alabama Turfgrass Association, the Alabama Golf Course Superintendents Association (GCSA), the Gulf Coast GCSA, the Louisiana-Mississippi GCSA and the Mississippi Turfgrass Association.  The inaugural event is scheduled for October 13-15 in Biloxi, MS and Turfgrass managers from all over the southeast are expected to congregate for this epic event.   Be sure you are there to be a part of this new tradition happening in the Deep South!
