Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee has been named the No. 1 Residential Golf Course in the state of Georgia for the second consecutive year, and the No. 30 Residential Golf Course in the U.S. for 2018 by Golfweek magazine.

To compile the list, Golfweek’s team of over 850 course raters review more than 3,600 golf courses across the United States each year, evaluating each facility nominated on the basis of Golfweek’s 10 strict standards of evaluation.

Designed by the renowned duo of Bill Coore and two-time Masters’ champion Ben Crenshaw, Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee opened for play in 1997 to rave reviews and has become a fixture atop the annual “best-of” lists, amassing an impressive list of honors including distinctions among the Top 100 Modern Golf Courses in the US, the #1 Golf Course You Can Play In Georgia, and most recently, the #1 Residential Golf Course in Georgia in both 2017 and 2018.

Located in Eatonton, Ga., the golf course was designed with minimal disturbance to native grass and growth, and the layout integrates holes with lakefront views, vast areas of native Bluestem grass and towering Georgia pines.

Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee remains the only Coore/Crenshaw design in the state of Georgia.

The course is managed by Superintendent Andrew Ninnemann.
