Course of the Week: Heritage Club GC

After undergoing a complete renovation, the greens at Heritage Club GC in Wake Forest, N.C., reopened in August. The putting surfaces have been replaced with Champion ultradwarf bermudagrass for a smoother, more consistent putting surface.

“These greens are in ideal condition for putting and will add to the Heritage golf experience,” says Andy Ammons, president of Ammons Development Group, Heritage developer. “The entire process took place in 10 weeks, which is what we expected. We’re lucky that the weather worked in our favor.”

On June 27 Heritage switched to temporary greens and began the renewal process. The no-till renovation replaced the current greens while leaving the greens structure in place, which preserved the contours.

Champion Turf Farms managed the renovations, which is an environmentally-sound procedure that complies with the Heritage Club GC certification from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program.

Heritage offers a variety of recreational amenities including golf, tennis, two swim complexes, miles of walking and biking trails, greenways, playgrounds, soccer fields, FootGolf, an amphitheater and a fully stocked fishing pond.
