Big Sky (Mont.) Resort Golf Course
Big Sky Resort Golf Course in Big Sky, Mont., is an 18-hole par 72 resort course near Yellowstone National Park that sits at 6,300 feet above sea level. It is an Arnold Palmer-designed course in a mountain and meadow style layout. Lone Peak, a mountain peak southeast of Salt Lake City, Utah, can be seen throughout the course.
Big Sky will have hosted six tournaments by the end of this summer.
“The course came out of winter in great shape. Condition-wise we are over a month ahead of where we were opening last season,” Big Sky’s PGA Head Golf Professional Mark Wehrman said when opening the course in May.
Big Sky Resort, established in 1973, is located in the Northern Rockies of southwest Montana between Bozeman, Montana and Yellowstone National Park. Big Sky Resort is known for its “Biggest Skiing in America” with 5,800 acres offering an average of two acres per skier and 4,350 vertical drop.
GCSAA Superintendent Member Sam Woodger is the course superintendent.
