UPI announced the approval of Annual Bluegrass Weevil control using Acephate 97UP on U.S. golf courses.

“Acephate 97UP insecticide can now be used to control Annual Bluegrass Weevils (ABW) on golf courses,” says Mike Bandy, UPI product manager. “Golf course managers have used Acephate 97UP for years to control some of their most troublesome insects.” There has been recent interest in using the product to control ABW (adults and larvae). A FIFRA section 2(ee) recommendation for Acephate 97UP for ABW control on golf courses has now been approved by EPA, and the product is now available for use in this manner.

In addition to golf courses, Acephate 97UP is labeled for use in other specialty areas such as nurseries, commercial greenhouse/shadehouses, sod farms and outdoor/perimeter spray on turf. Acephate 97UP is labeled for the control of chinch bugs, cutworms, mole crickets and many other pests. Labeling excludes residential turf except for mound treatment of fire ants, and harvester ants. Consult the product label for more information.
