2018 U.S. Open Photo Parade: maintenance before dawn

By |  June 19, 2018 0 Comments

Gentlemen, start your engines! The crew at Shinnecock Hills gets a few last instructions before being sent out.

A serene scene… the 118th U.S. Open sign at sunrise.

The morning maintenance meetings took place at 4 a.m., then everyone quickly got to work.

Mowing fairways, guided by headlights.

Tuckahoe Road bisects Shinnecock Hills and is normally an open road to traffic. For tournament week, it was for internal use only.

More than 200 volunteers from around the country (and the world) helped out at Shinnecock last week.

Fairway clippings were collected, dumped into the bed of a utility vehicle, then driven off to be disposed of.

Driving off into the sunset… err, sunrise.
