The scholarship is open to undergraduate students completing their final year of study. The Robert T. Jones Memorial Trust Scholarship offers four St. Andrews graduates and four Emory graduates the opportunity to study a variety of classes at the partner institution for one academic year, with all mandatory costs covered. Winners are also allowed to travel and experience life overseas.

The scholarship honors Robert T. (Bobby) Jones, who graduated from Emory University Law School. He was also named the Freeman of the City of St Andrews in 1958.

Jones’s friends and family set up the scholarship in 1976 and there are over 300 alumni who have since received the scholarship.

The 2024 recipients of the scholarship include:

  • Magnus Burnet, studying geography and sustainable development.
  • Alex Hargreaves, studying social anthropology.
  • Victor Mendoza Galvis, studying philosophy and Russian.
  • Josh Rankin, studying modern history and social anthropology.
