The Abaco Club names three new leaders for Bahamas private resort

The Abaco Club, a 500-acre exclusive private club on Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas, has named three key leadership appointments: Tom Rubel as senior vice president of development, Bill Chrysler as vice president of operations, and Marc Carter as director of golf.

Rubel will provide executive leadership for development initiatives in his new role, while fostering connections with members, partners and the local community. He brings more than 12 years of experience leading luxury hospitality and real estate developments totaling more than $1 billion. Most recently, he served as head of development, North America for Aventuur and was managing director of development and construction for Irongate, where he helped develop Costa Palmas in Baja California Sur.
Previously the vice president of operations for Southworth, the family-owned club operator and developer behind The Abaco Club, Chrysler now steps into a role dedicated exclusively to the club, reflecting the club’s continued investment and focus on top-tier amenities, service and member experience. With more than 30 years in the private club and hospitality industry, he has held leadership positions at premier clubs and resorts nationwide. Chrysler previously served as interim general manager at The Abaco Club, overseeing significant operational enhancements across the property.

Carter brings more than three decades of private golf club experience to his new role as director of golf. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions at renowned clubs including Kiawah Island, Pine Valley Golf Club and Old Memorial Golf Club, where he spent more than 20 years as general manager and head golf professional. Carter is widely recognized for cultivating exceptional golf experiences while fostering strong relationships with members and staff.
The appointments reinforce the club’s commitment to investing in its people, amenities and member experience as it enters its next phase of growth, including a $350 million transformation – the current phase of a 10-year investment plan. Recent additions include a new oceanfront beach club and racquet center, expanded sporting experiences and new residential neighborhoods starting at $3.7 million.
