Texas company’s golf course fertigation system to aid in sustainable 2016 Olympics
Texas-based Turf Feeding Systems will take part in the Olympics sustainability efforts with its fertigation system by reducing the use of water, fertilizer, chemicals, labor and energy on the new golf course.
New sustainability measures have been set for the 2016 Olympics by UN Environment Programme and the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics Organizing Committee.
“Sports can and should play a leading role in the promotion of a more sustainable world,” said the 2016 Olympics president, Carlos Arthur Nuzman.
Turf Feeding Systems has worked on golf course construction for over 28 years. Its fertilizer injection systems inject nutrients into irrigation water to feed the plant and soil. This method reduces water, fertilizer, chemicals, labor and energy.
The 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil will be the first time in 100 years the Olympics will host golf as competitive sport.
