Syngenta rebrands carbon calculator tool; tests on 12 Marriott courses
Syngenta has announced a new brand name for its tool that documents and analyzes the overall carbon footprint: GreenCast EcoMeasures.
Formerly called the Turf Carbon Calculator, the tool evaluates the cumulative amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases released into the earth’s atmosphere during a course’s normal daily operations.
“We wanted a name that not only reflects our shared responsibility to manage the use of our limited resources but also puts into perspective the major drivers of sustainability, including energy, carbon and water,” said Shawn Potter, marketing head, Syngenta Lawn & Garden. “The tool helps courses and clubs take measures to become more sustainable, both ecologically and economically, which the name communicates.”
GreenCast EcoMeasures helps course managers benchmark and track environmental performance as well as validate improvements, by estimating a golf course’s gross and net carbon-dioxide emissions. It also provides metrics on energy, water and other resources, leading to more efficient management of inputs.
GreenCast EcoMeasures is part of a joint effort between Syngenta and Marriott Golf and is being tested on 12 of Marriott Golf’s courses. Syngenta plans to test the tool on additional courses this year.
