Sod Production names licensed growers of PremierPRO bermudagrass

Sod Production Services, a division of Riverside Turf, that provides sod production consultation services as well as acts as the licensing agent for PremierPRO bermudagrass, licensed the turf to six growers.

“PremirePRO is scientifically proven to have superior traffic tolerance and wear tolerance, and it’s been used with great success on sports fields, golf courses and lawns. We are proud to announce that there are now six high-quality, professional licensed growers growing the grass, with more coming online very soon,” says Brian Walker, vice president of business development of Sod Production Services.

The licensed producers currently growing the turf for production and sale are:

Bass Sod Farm LLC. – currently harvesting PremierPRO bermudagrass

The legacy of the Bass Sod Farm began in 1921 when the Bass family purchased 2000 acres of prime farmland in the heart of Virginia. In 2005, brothers W.B. and Allen, decided to take the family business into a new direction by developing 40 acres of fescue/bluegrass sod. Today, more than ten years later, the Bass Sod Farm, cultivates over 170 acres of sod including fescue, bermuda and zoysia grasses.

Central Sod Farms of Maryland, Inc.  – currently expanding PremierPRO bermudagrass

A family operation from the start, Central Sod Farms was established in 1976 on a 20-acre farm in Wheatland, Ill.. and soon grew to more than 300 acres of sod production. Today Central Sod serves areas in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Cutting edge technology developed in the past 10 years has enabled us to provide even better products.

Quality Turf, Inc. – currently expanding PremierPRO bermudagrass

Quality Turf was founded in 1985 by Alfred Wooten, a North Carolina Certified Turf Professional, with more than 30 years of experience in the turfgrass industry. Over the past 27 years, we have grown from our original 15-acre site to over 700-acres at six locations. Quality Turf is a member of the NC Sod Producers Association, Turfgrass Producers International, the Turfgrass Council of NC, Green Industry Council, the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association and the NC Nursery and Landscape Association.

Carolina Green– Athletic Field Construction – currently in the initial growing process and should be ready to harvest in spring of 2017

Carolina Green Sod, a family owned company, was established in 2006 due to a growing need for quality bermudagrass sod among commercial and residential consumers.

Turf Connection LLC. – currently harvesting PremierPRO bermudagrass

Marc and Melanie Marsh created Turf Connections to satisfy a local need for high-quality turfgrass. Our grasses can be found on various athletic fields, golf courses, and at commercial and residential properties around the Southeast. Located in Cheraw, S.C., our sod farm grows more than 100 acres of turfgrass.
