I’m Scott Mingay, the senior director of products and engineering here at the USGA. We’re here at the 2025 GCSAA Show in San Diego. USGA is really excited to unveil and launch the USGA Moisture Meter. The moisture meter is the latest innovation to the DEACON course management platform, where we’re helping to bring all the data together into one spot. Building on the success of the 2024 show with the GS3 launch, the USGA moisture meter here will continue to bring all of that data together.

We’ll give you a quick little demo and insight into how things work. So, just like your GS3, you can connect to the app via Bluetooth. We’re on unit 17 here, so I’ll hit “add new soil test” and connect to my moisture meter.

We’ll walk right over to our test plot that we have, pull up our time cover and press the record button. Once we do that, we instantly get our moisture media readings right there on the deacon app. As we take multiple readings, we can develop a heat map of everything that’s going on, communicate that data to hand-watering crews and view our trends over time.

It’s available now. The starter kit, if you don’t have DEACON, is $3,000. Each available moisture meter after that is $1750, we are offering a $500 off discount. It’s a special package that runs the entire year, moisture meter, GS3 and DEACON for $4,000.
