PondHawk Defender launches as solution to protect golf course solar investments

As record numbers of golfers return to the fairways, golf facilities are investing heavily in sustainability — often with solar-powered pond aeration systems. But more players bring a higher risk of damage to these solar panels from errant shots, hail and other airborne debris. Linne Industries, based in Newark, Del., stated its new PondHawk Defender is designed to address this emerging challenge.
“With increased adoption of the PondHawk system, panels are more vulnerable to stray shots,” said Linne Industries president Sandra Burton. While solar panels are built for durability, a direct impact can reduce their lifespan. A single incident can mean expensive hardware replacements and system downtime.”
The PondHawk Defender uses a shield made from polycarbonate, supported by corrosion-resistant steel stanchions, to absorb impacts without blocking valuable sunlight or disrupting energy production. Field tests demonstrated that the shield preserves panel efficiency and resists weather-related hazards.

At Echo Hills Golf Club in Piqua, Ohio, general manager Patrick Kirkland called it “peace of mind” protection for valuable solar investments. Linne Industries reports the Defender comes with a five-year warranty and a projected 15-year lifespan, closely matching investment timelines for most solar assets.
With solar infrastructure growing in popularity for many golf courses, solutions that prolong equipment life and lower risk are likely to gain traction, according to the company. The Defender shield is available immediately, with a discounted bundle for PondHawk customers through August.
