Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst, a golf community located just a mile from the Village of Pinehurst, has appointed Curtis Proctor as its new director of golf course maintenance. Proctor, who previously oversaw maintenance for Pinehurst Resort’s No. 1 and The Cradle courses, brings more than 15 years of experience in golf course management to his new role.

Proctor will be responsible for the agronomy and upkeep of Pinewild’s 48 holes, which include two 18-hole championship layouts — the Magnolia, designed by Gene Hamm, and the Holly, a Gary Player signature course — as well as the nine-hole Azalea Par-3 course and extensive practice facilities. His appointment comes at a pivotal time, as Pinewild is undergoing significant development, including the launch of Azalea Place, a 77-home luxury neighborhood, and plans for an $18 million clubhouse renovation.

Chris Card, CEO of Pinewild and Co-CEO of IE Homes, Clubs and Resorts, described Proctor’s hiring as a long-term investment in the club’s future.

“The 15 years of exceptional experience Curtis brings to Pinewild is more than a promise of improved conditions today,” he said. “It’s a long-term investment in the future of an already outstanding club that’s continually evolving.”

As Pinewild continues to expand both its amenities and residential offerings, the club’s commitment to high-quality course conditions remains central to its strategy. Proctor’s leadership is expected to help Pinewild maintain its reputation for challenging yet accessible golf, supporting both member satisfaction and the club’s broader growth objectives.

Looking ahead, Pinewild’s ongoing investments in facilities and community development are likely to enhance its appeal in the competitive Sandhills golf market, with further announcements anticipated in the coming months, according to the course.
