Penn State Extension to host Landscaping Field Day on Aug. 8
An upcoming Penn State Extension workshop will offer hands-on learning experiences for green industry professionals — including golf course superintendents — and opportunities to earn pesticide recertification credits.
The Penn State Extension’s “Landscaping Field Day” will be held at The Arboretum at Penn State from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 8.
This workshop is designed for arborists, turfgrass and grounds managers, nursery and garden center personnel and the green industry workforce.
Sessions will include:
- Tours of the Penn State Plant Disease Clinic, the Agricultural Analytical Services Lab and the arboretum.
- Campus walks focusing on pests, conifers and small flowering trees.
- Recommendations for the best trees and shrubs to support wildlife.
- Updates on invasive insects that are building in population throughout Pennsylvania.
Participants can earn core and category pesticide credits from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The registration fee is $70, and the deadline to register is 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 2.
