Oase introduces SchlixX Plus for sustainable pond management

Golf course ponds are more than just scenic features — they play a crucial role in course aesthetics, irrigation and ecological balance. Yet, many superintendents face ongoing challenges with poor water quality, persistent odors and excessive organic buildup. These issues often stem from phosphorus and nutrient overloads accumulating in pond sediments, fueling algae blooms and unwanted plant growth.

Oase, a global water management company, has introduced SchlixX Plus, a product designed to address these underlying issues. SchlixX Plus works by binding free phosphorus in the sediment and stimulating natural microbial activity to break down organic matter. This approach targets internal nutrient recycling, a root cause of many water quality problems.

Superintendents across the United States have reported noticeable improvements in pond clarity, depth and odor within weeks of application, according to the company. Importantly, SchlixX Plus is safe for fish and wildlife, easy to apply and presents an alternative to disruptive dredging — a process that can run upwards of $50,000 per acre, according to industry estimates.

As sustainability becomes a higher priority in turf management, products like SchlixX Plus offer a path toward long-term water quality improvements without the recurring costs and environmental impacts of chemical treatments or dredging. For golf course operators, this means healthier ponds, reduced maintenance and enhanced playability.

According to the company, with increasing regulatory scrutiny on nutrient runoff and water use, superintendents may find that bottom-up solutions such as SchlixX Plus align with both environmental goals and operational budgets.
