SiteOne Landscape Supply introduced the new LESCO S1 creeping bentgrass.

Exclusively at SiteOne, S1 is an improved creeping grass cultivator that is proven to suppress Poa annua.

S1 has been rigorously tested under the experimental designation of DLFPS-AP/3058 and AP23 at Iowa State University, Rutgers University and National Turfgrass Evaluation (NTEP). It is rated:

  • No. 1 early spring green up on a green (2014 Bentgrass NTEP)
  • No. 1 for bentgrass cultivators grown on a green under drought stress (2014 NTEP)

NTEP testing confirms S1 is disease resistant against dollar spot (No. 1 NTEP 2017), brown patch (top tier NTEP 2017) and anthracnose (No. 1 NTEP 2017). S1 is aggressive, tough and advanced, making it an option for greens, tees and fairways.

“This is one of the most significant launches in LESCO history,” said Brian Rowan, vice president of category management – agronomics. “Water restrictions are a top concern for superintendents, and S1 tested phenomenally to blackout periods while maintaining turf health.”

LESCO S1 has a high germination rates of bentgrass seed. It is a high-density seed that has a fine leaf texture and is medium to dark green in color. S1 performs best in cool humid, cool arid and some regions where the climate is warm humid and subtropical, according to the company.
