Holganix named PACT’s Clean Tech Company of the Year

By and |  October 4, 2013

Holganix has earned the Clean Tech Company of the Year from the Greater Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies (PACT), an organization that aims to create a strategic Hub for the region’s emerging growth companies in the information technology, clean technology and life sciences industries.

Each year, PACT Enterprises recognizes businesses within the greater Philadelphia region when it announces its award recipients within the technology and life science industries.

“As a customer-centric and innovative entrepreneurial firm, we are all about creating value for our customers,” said Holganix CEO Barrett Ersek. “We are grateful and honored that PACT has recognized Holganix as a leader in innovation and problem solving.”

Ben Franklin Technology Partners, Exelon Company and PECO sponsored the PACT award for the Clean Tech Company of the Year. Companies must have innovative new products or services that have a positive effect on the environment to be considered for recognition. Holganix earned this year’s award because it is making a big difference in the way landscapers, golf course superintendents, farmers and property owners are thinking about fertilizers.

“Winning the PACT Clean Tech Company of the Year is a tremendous honor,” said Ersek. “Our entire team is focused on our Big Ambitious Noble Goal (BANG) to eliminate 100 million pounds of nitrates, 20 million pounds of phosphates and 100 million ounces of concentrated pesticides from entering our water sources by Earth Day 2016. In a way, winning this award is a great recognition of the significance of our mission at Holganix.”

Runners up in the competition included OxiCool, which specializes in advanced air conditioning and refrigeration technologies and Renmatix, which produces the lowest cost cellulosic sugar.

This was PACT’s 20th annual event. “This was a special year, with a red carpet feel, but what has not changed is PACT’s commitment to honoring the regions’ best technology and life sciences companies and entrepreneurs,” said Diane Strunk, vice president, Business Development, PACT. “It was truly a night of celebration on all fronts.”
