GolfSwitch has named Michael Read vice president of marketing and business development. He will assume responsibility for the online tee-time technology company’s corporate communications, branding and channel development efforts.

Read spent the past 13 years in various marketing leadership positions with Club Car, a manufacturer of small-wheel, zero-emissions electric vehicles.

Most recently, he served as business development director for the Club Car’s Visage Mobile Golf Information System, a GPS-based technology platform that focuses on driving incremental revenue and reducing expenses for golf course operators. The Visage feature set was recently expanded to incorporate mobile application software from GolfSwitch.

“With the incorporation of our GolfSwitch mobile applications into the Visage platform, Mike will also be instrumental in helping facilitate our relationship with Club Car and GPS Industries, and grow the suite of business solutions that we bring to golf course operators around the world,” said GolfSwitch CEO Doug Reichel.

Read also was Club Car’s marketing category director for golf, and was responsible for branding and marketing communications across all Club Car business segments.

“We are extremely excited to have Mike join our executive team,” Reichel said. “He brings to us 13 years of relationships in the golf industry as well as a proven track record in corporate communications and product management, including a number of successful product launches, which is particularly key for our planned growth strategy.”
