Golf Maintenance Solutions names David Downing regional agronomist

Golf Maintenance Solutions, a company that helps clients develop and implement systems to maximize resources and increase the quality of the golf course, has named David S. Downing II, CGCS, Southeast Regional Agronomist.

“Dave brings a tremendous amount of agronomic and operations experience to our team,” said Dean Wochaski, CGCS, co-founder, Golf Maintenance Solutions. “His career is full of the experiences which can help our clients be more successful with their golf operations.”

Downing, past president of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, was the first golf course superintendent to build four courses simultaneously and open them all on the same day. He has prepared courses for nearly 20 professional events including 11 televised events.  In addition, Downing has hands-on experience growing nearly every species of turfgrass used throughout the United States. He also has been an owner and president of a golf management company.

“Our business is growing and we needed someone with Dave’s experience to help us continue the growth and still meet the individual needs of each client,” said Bill Nauroth, CGCS, co-founder, Golf Maintenance Solutions. “Dave’s depth of knowledge and experiences is unique to the golf course maintenance business.”

Downing has served the profession and the game of golf his entire career. “I am excited to be joining the Golf Maintenance Solutions team to use the knowledge I have garnered over the last 30 years,” he said. “I have been blessed to be able to do a lot of different things in my career. In this position I can put all of the knowledge to work to help our clients and our great game of golf become more sustainable.”

Golf Maintenance Solutions was created by golf course superintendents in an effort to use their abilities to promote the game of golf by sharing their depth of knowledge about course maintenance issues. Areas of expertise include full service maintenance management, agronomic planning, irrigation, construction, capital improvements, due diligence, training and development, purchasing contracts and equipment/fleet evaluations The company focuses on what it takes to make each golf course the best it can be with a balance of agronomics and financial responsibility.
