Florida approves Xonerate Herbicide

By |  January 10, 2013

CARY, N.C.—Xonerate Herbicide from Arysta LifeScience North America is now approved for sales and distribution in the state of Florida. This is the 45th state to receive approval for the product.

Specifically, Xonerate Herbicide now provides a solution to Florida’s turf and ornamental professionals that eliminates Poa annua on a variety of outdoor surfaces, including golf courses and sports turf. It is available in an easy-to-use, water-dispersible granule formulation and offers selective removal of Poa annua in warm-season turfgrasses (including seashore paspalum and Bermudagrass).

“Many turfgrasses provide conditions ideal for Poa annua growth, including high moisture, nitrogen and high-traffic areas,” says Doug Houseworth, technical services manager, Arysta LifeScience. “In turn, Xonerate eliminates the Poa with little to no disruption to the growth of desirable warm-season grasses. We know this will be a welcomed tool for T&O professionals and golf course superintendents throughout Florida as they work to eliminate Poa.”

Xonerate works as it is absorbed by plant leaves and roots. It inhibits photosynthesis in sensitive plants; with Poa annua, the weed loses its green color and becomes brown.
