EWGA Names Janet Phillips Businesswoman of the Year

EWGA has named Janet Phillips its 2011 EWGA Businesswoman of the Year. The award recognizes EWGA members who have used their success to promote the EWGA and women’s golf.

Phillips was instrumental in the EWGA Richmond chapter’s founding nine years ago and has served as its education chairperson ever since. Her influence in the Richmond golf community has enabled her to obtain discounts on rounds, lessons and equipment at both private and public golf courses.

As a supporter of the EWGA Fairway Friends program, Phillips trained mentors and paired them with novice golfers to promote interest in the game. And through her overall efforts she has increased participation in EWGA events.

“For the past nine years, my involvement with the EWGA has been a labor of love and I am proud to represent the greater Richmond chapter with this award,” Phillips said. “I would also like to thank the national EWGA for recognizing me and I look forward to helping promote women’s golf in the future.”

Phillips and other EWGA award winners, including LPGA Hall of Famer Lorena Ochoa, will be formally recognized at EWGA’s 2012 conference in Las Vegas (April 18-21).
