The course redesign in 2007 was a collaborative effort that enlisted the input from several famed architects, including Tom Fazio and Pete Dye, as well as PGA TOUR pros Fred Funk and Davis Love III. As part of the redesign, TPC Potomac restored the historic Rock Run Creek, a tributary of the Potomac River. The Rock Run Creek runs along five of the holes on the back nine. The renovation also added 15 acres of trees.

The course incorporates the distinct nuances and indigenous flora of the Mid-Atlantic topography into the design to create a compelling, strategically diverse and strikingly beautiful playing field for golfers of all skill levels. The course features bentgrass greens, tees and fairways with subtle elevation changes and distinctive Mid-Atlantic and Scottish-style bunkering.

Maintained to PGA TOUR standards, the course also has an expansive new practice facility.
