The Club at Savannah Quarters in Pooler, Ga., is nearing completion on a massive practice area renovation project at its Greg Norman Signature course.

The practice area renovation project is scheduled to be completed by Oct 1. and is part of the club’s continued efforts to improve the course and member experience.

Greg Norman Golf Course Design Senior Vice President Jason McCoy originally directed the construction of the Signature course in 2006. McCoy returned to Savannah Quarters to work alongside Troon, the club’s management company and Freehold Communities, the community’s development company, to oversee the practice area renovation project. Laser Turf performed construction duties on the project. Laser Turf has a proven track record of course and practice area renovations at some of the finest golf facilities in the world, including Seminole, Sea Island and Pinehurst.

The renovation is focused on improving several areas of the practice area, including reconfiguring the former short game area into a new 6,000 square-foot short game area, which includes two new bunkers. In addition, the tee area was rebuilt as one large tee giving players more hitting area that is laser-leveled and that features improved turf conditions. Target greens have been added to the range to enhance the practice experience. Additional cart parking has also been added adjacent to the practice area.

“We believe in delivering a high-quality golf experience to our members,” said Jonathan Mattox, director of golf, The Club at Savannah Quarters. “The Club at Savannah Quarters’ team is thrilled to complete these renovations. The importance of this critical project cannot be overstated in our effort to continue to deliver the best conditions to our Club members and guests.”

The Club at Savannah Quarters, a Troon Privé-managed club located within the Savannah Quarters master-planned community, features a private 18-hole Greg Norman Signature course. It is playable year-round and was voted “Best Golf in Savannah” by Savannah Magazine. The picturesque 7,066-yard, par-72 course weaves through lagoons, natural areas and groves of towering cypress and live oak trees. The signature 15th hole offers a unique island green overlooking a peaceful lagoon.
