Monster Golf Club at Resorts World Catskills in Monticello, N.Y., will reopen to the public on Aug. 29 for a condensed preview season. The course recently underwent a complete redesign — led by Rees Jones. The newly designed course uses holes from the current Monster Golf Course and The Old International Course.

The Jones-led renovation became a reality after a $40 million investment from Resorts World Catskills to revitalize the Joe Finger-designed course that opened in 1963, once rated as one of America’s 100 greatest golf courses.

“The magic of Rees Jones is omnipresent throughout the course’s 18 holes and the hospitality excellence of Troon Golf and Resorts World Catskills offers golfers an unrivaled experience at the Monster Golf Club,” Uri Jimenez, club manager/director of golf for Monster Golf Club, said.

The par-72 championship course is nestled in the Catskill Mountains and features extensive bunkering and a variety of water hazards. It has large undulating greens and six sets of tee boxes. The club also recently added lithium-ion E-Z-Go golf carts equipped with GPS technology.

Troon will manage the course when it relaunches in late August.
