Course of the Week: KemperSports selected to manage Cedar Point Club
Cedar Point Club in Suffolk, Va., recently selected KemperSports to manage its business, food and beverage, golf and recreational operations.
Established in 1964, Cedar Point is located at the confluence of the Nansemond and James Rivers in Southeast Virginia. It features a 7,100-yard, 18-hole course, renovated in 2004 by Virginia-based golf course architect Tom Clark. Superintendent Chris Keen leads the course’s maintenance staff.
The par-72 layout features TifSport bermudagrass tees and fairways, drought- and heat-resistant A1/A4 bentgrass greens and newly constructed capillary concrete bunkers. The club has hosted four Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) Men’s State Amateur Championships and is the future home of the 2023 VSGA Women’s Amateur.
“Following over $10 million in upgrades throughout our entire campus over the last four years, we sought to partner with a best-in-class operator to complement these facility enhancements,” Cameron Robinett, president and chairman of Cedar Point Club, said. “KemperSports’ passion for creating memorable experiences through unparalleled service makes them the right steward of our vision for the club’s future.”
The club features a newly renovated 18-station driving range, putting and chipping greens.
Recently, KemperSports named hospitality executive Greg Marquart as the club’s new general manager. Marquart has over 30 years in experience within the hospitality industry.
