Course of the Week: Diablo CC to complete $22M master facilities project

Members of Diablo Country Club (Calif.) approved a renovation, update and enhancement effort that will address all areas of the club’s campus.

The $22 million project, fully funded through capital dues rather than member assessments, includes:

• Updates to the clubhouse
• Construction of a new fitness center
• Renovations to the tennis pavilion and childcare center
• The addition of new bocce ball courts
• The installation of a new indoor golf simulator
• Enhancements to the food and beverage service, including an expansion and update to the Red Horse Tavern, addition of the new Diablo Pub and renovations to the main kitchen

The project follows a recent $12 million golf course renovation, which saw the club fully renovate its greens with bentgrass, and restore bunkers to their original locations.

The club also converted to a drought-tolerant bermudagrass during the project in all areas outside of putting greens and reduced its maintained turf acreage to 35 acres during the 2020 renovation.

The project began in January 2023 and will complete in early 2024.
