Course of the Week: Bobby Jones Links to manage Northern Kentucky’s Traditions GC
Bobby Jones Links is now managing Traditions Golf Club in Hebron, Ky., an 18-hole course tucked in the rolling hills outside of Cincinnati. According to Bobby Jones Links, the company will work closely with the Traditions team to elevate the member experience and leverage the club’s heritage and infrastructure.
The course, established in 1992, is a 400-acre, par-72 championship layout that has received multiple awards and hosted many of the state’s biggest amateur and professional championships over the past three decades.
Bobby Jones Links now manages more than 30 properties in 12 states. Prior to Bobby Jones Links, Traditions was managed by the same private ownership group since it was acquired by local entrepreneurs David Brooks and Chris Penn in 1996.
“We provided ownership assurances and peace of mind that we were aligned with their vision for the coming years and that the legacy of this club is in the right hands,” Doug Hellman, chief development officer for Bobby Jones Links, said. “There was a very strong understanding of their goals and trust in BJL to develop a dynamic working plan to achieve those goals as we run the day-to-day business in the most efficient ways possible.”
The course is perennially ranked inside the top 10 on Golf Digest’s Best Clubs in Kentucky and has hosted Kentucky PGA Section championships, Greater Cincinnati Golf Association championships, the Kentucky Amateur, Kentucky Open and U.S. Amateur and U.S. Mid-Amateur qualifiers.
