The United States Golf Association (USGA) recognized the work of 20-year GCSAA member Chris Wilson, director of golf courses and grounds at Los Angeles Country Club, by presenting him with the E.J. Marshall Platter at the conclusion of the 2023 U.S. Open Championship.

The USGA created the E.J. Marshall Platter in 2022 awarding it to Dave Johnson of The Country Club in Brookline, Mass., host of the 2022 U.S. Open. Wilson’s team was also recognized for their contributions.

Wilson has been at LACC since 2015, but also spent a stint there starting in 2010. He began his career in his hometown at Arkansas City (Kan.) Country Club and then spent a decade on the staff at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla. He has also served as superintendent at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, Okla., and Roaring Fork Club in Basalt, Colo., before taking over the lead role at LACC.
