Exclusive: Carmen Magro introduces Pure Insight

Golfdom Editor-in-Chief Seth Jones sits down with Carmen Magro, CGCS, Ph.D., as he talks about his new venture, Pure Insight.

Seth Jones: Hey everybody, it’s Seth Jones, editor-in-chief of Golfdom Magazine. Today, I’m being joined by someone I’ve known in the industry for going on almost 30 years, which is hard to believe, everybody. It’s my pleasure to say hello to Carmen Magro, CGCS, PhD. Carmen, how you doing?

Carmen Magro: Hi, Seth, how are you?

SJ: Doing good, thanks. Doing good. So, this is going to be an easy one for me. You’ve got some big news? Let’s get started. I want to be the first in the industry to share it. What’s going on with you?

CM: Yeah, it’s kind of a loaded question, to be quite honest with you. But my new company is called, the brand is called Pure Insight, which has four divisions in the overall company. One is a consultative service, of course, so that’s one division. Another division is technical development services. I went out and hired the best center engineer in the world. And the third vertical is a line of biologically enhanced nutrition products. We call it the pure insight brand. But the fourth vertical we have, and this one’s going to kind of make you laugh a little bit, maybe, but I have an olive oil division, and I’m super excited about it. It’s been a little bit scary because it’s, you know, honestly, it’s the first time in a long time I haven’t had, say, a regular paycheck, but I’m willing to invest everything I have in this because it’s been a vision of mine for a very, very long time, and to be able to work with folks from around the world and anyone who’s listening, we are building that team out right now, especially the consultative team.

SJ: So just reading between the lines here, then, so you’re mapping out, and you’ve got a notebook somewhere where you’re trying to, where you’re going to, planning on creating a new, better soil moisture meter, using your experience in what you know, and just coming up with a new physical tool to sell?

CM: Oh, yeah.

SJ: How far away do you think it is from someone seeing one in person?

CM: 2025, for sure.

SJ: Okay, okay, soon!

CM: I wish it would be now with conference season, but I’m more focused on the analytics of things. Seth, because this isn’t about selling a piece of hardware. In fact, I’m not sure it’ll be sold at all. That’s where we’ll leave it for now.
