California Dreamin’

Golfdom‘s Editor-in-Chief may call Lawrence, Kan., home, but the majority of the Golfdom team lives in Cleveland. (Don’t worry, I can hear your jokes about Johnny/Billy Manziel and THE Ohio State University jokes from here.)

I feel lucky because this has been an extremely mild winter compared to other years, and it was 50 degrees on Christmas day… but our luck had to run out sometime. Remember, it’s Cleveland we’re talking about.

On Sunday there was light rainfall as I walked into church and as I walked out an hour later there was a wall of snow falling outside.

Only about 2 inches fell by my apartment, but more snow will be coming tonight and tomorrow accompanied by frigid temperatures. (See evidence from weather.com below.)

I can’t complain too much because such is the life of an Ohioan, and I know will soon be in California.

As much as I am looking forward to the Golf Industry Show, I am lucky enough to travel to California a couple weeks early for another trade show.

STMA trade show entryNext week I will be traveling to San Diego for the 2016 Sports Turf Managers Association’s Conference and Exhibition from Jan. 19–22. (Seth Jones will be in Harrogate, England, for the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association’s Turf Management Exhibition at the same time.)

I understand San Diego has been a hot spot for GIS recently, but this will be my first time to the San Diego Convention Center, so I am happy to get a chance to familiarize myself with the layout before GIS. Not to mention, check out some of Seth’s favorite spots in the surrounding Gaslamp Quarter.

With GIS taking place a couple weeks later, I doubt there will be many Golfdom readers at the STMA show, but if anyone is planning on attending send us a message on Twitter or Facebook.

Otherwise check out the Golfdom Twitter account for action from me in San Diego and Seth in England.
