BrightView Golf to maintain Hillendale Country Club

Hillendale Country Club in Phoenix, Md., has selected BrightView Golf Maintenance to maintain its par 72 championship course. BrightView is a golf course maintenance company caring for more than 80 championship courses around the country.

BrightView will be responsible for all aspects of course maintenance including turf, irrigation and equipment to provide members and guests the finest playing conditions. The course is one of Baltimore’s best-kept secrets, according to Greg Pieschala, president of BrightView Golf Maintenance.

“We are honored to have been chosen to care for this historic course, one of the best known private golf facilities in Maryland,” Pieschala said. “We are looking forward to helping Hillendale continue to establish itself as a premier family recreational facility, providing the best golf experience in the region for members, visitors and competitive golfers.”

The course was founded in 1923 and the private club offers players a challenging golf experience. Hillendale’s golf course is known for its rolling hills and small, undulating, well-bunkered greens. William and David Gordon’s 18-hole design was built in 1954. George Fazio updated the course in the 1970s with the addition of fairway bunkers. In 2009 the course underwent another renovation with updated bunkers and irrigation systems, forward tee boxes for women and seniors and more.

Brightview will take over course maintenance for Hillendale which has a long history of hosting many events including the PGA Tour’s Tournament Player’s Series (The Greater Baltimore Open), the Middle Atlantic Section PGA Professional Championship, the Maryland State Golf Association’s Open Championship, Amateur Championship, a U.S. Open Qualifying Site, the Women’s Eastern Amateur Championship and more.
