Everyone and their mother is geared up for the upcoming Golf Industry Show in San Antonio, including two of the largest chemical companies, BASF and Bayer.

BASF will be located at booth 4111 and will feature a showcase of the Lexicon Intrinsic brand and Xzemplar fungicide and showcase the science behind the product. BASF’s leading researchers will be running demonstrations, including comparisons of turf samples treated with Lexicon Intrinsic and other fungicides, and technical presentations will start every 30 minutes, starting at 9:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.

“Last year, we introduced two new blockbuster products,” says Nick Tresslar, BASF marketing manager, turf and ornamentals. “We’re taking the opportunity of this year’s show to highlight superintendents and the many successes they have had with these products.”

Superintendents from leading courses around the country will participate in a panel discussion, sharing their experiences with the products. These will take place on Wednesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

You will also find a special vending machine in the BASF booth. The vending machine will be Twitter-activated to dispense a Jackery portable smartphone charger when a superintendent tweets his or her story with one of two featured products. The conversation can be followed at #TalkingTurf.

Bayer will be located in booth 7081 and will focus on informing superintendents of the educational information, technical support, plant health expertise and solutions the company offers.

The booth features a living turf display with the Bayer Green Solutions Team informing attendees about plant health. The Bayer Bee Care program will be presenting a live bee observation hive. Information on Bayer’s new formulation, Signature Xtra, will be available before it is anticipated to launch later in 2015, pending EPA approval.

In the My Bayer Rewards café superintendents can get free refreshments, and may watch golf movie classics in the lounge area. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Green Start Academy, Bayer will host a reception on Feb. 25 from 5-7 p.m.

This an especially exciting year for us — with so much to celebrate with our friends and industry partners,” says David Wells, golf business manager for the T&O business at Bayer. “Green Start Academy is a fantastic program for the development of assistant superintendents that truly underscores what we mean by ‘the Backed By Bayer Experience,’ and our commitment to elevate and equip the next generation of leaders to succeed and grow the industry.”
