KemperSports names industry veteran, Dave Groelle, as national agronomist

KemperSports, a golf, sports and hospitality company, announced today that Dave Groelle, a 25-year KemperSports veteran, will serve as the company’s National Agronomist. Groelle will leverage his experience in modern agronomic practices, environmental sensitivity and track record of developing great superintendents to lead the support of KemperSports’ agronomic teams and key development projects. Groelle will also lead KemperSports Green to a Tee, KemperSports’ environmental initiative.
“Dave’s experience is second to none, but it’s the way he can communicate and coach that makes Dave such a strong fit as our National Agronomist,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner. “Golf course conditions are a critical success factor at all of our courses and we are confident that Dave will help ensure best-in-class conditions throughout the portfolio.”
Dave began his career with KemperSports as Assistant Superintendent at Kemper Lakes, then played a key role in the construction and grow-in of The Glen Club before arriving at Royal Melbourne(Ill.) in 2000. Over the course of 25 years at Royal Melbourne, he has been a beloved presence for the members and Club and has helped elevate this private golf course to one of the premier playing surfaces in Chicagoland. In recent years, Dave has also served as a regional agronomist and has provided support for several of KemperSports’ renovation and development projects, including Tepetonka, The Glen Club, Winnetka Golf Club, Cantigny Golf and the Evans Course.
“I am thrilled to expand my role within KemperSports,” said Groelle. “Being able to utilize more than 25 years of experience to lead initiatives that support the development and success of our talented golf course superintendents across the portfolio is exciting.”
